Faculty of Dentistry
The Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine provides an education program in oral health
care using applied basic sciences, specialized dental prodrams and behavioral sciences.
The general philosophy of the program aims at excellence in dental sciences and
clinical dentistry. This is achieved through modern education modalities and concepts.
The high quality education in this program is fortified by continuous contact with
eminent staff members, syllabuses that are up-to-date with the ever-evolving dental
sciences and research projects. The program also plays a vital role in the community

Objectives
The mission of the Faculty of Dentistry is to prepare highly competent and
motivated dentists, responsive to society's needs for dental care. This mission
is fulfilled through the following objectives :
Training students in providing efficient dental services in a variety of settings,
including
faculty clinics, governmental hospitals, educational institutions,
and other organizations.
Developing effective communication and management skills, as well as responsible
and
ethical professional conduct.
Developing inquisitive and self directed dentists who are critical thinkers, lifelong
learners, and problem solvers.
Excellence in Teaching
Education in the Faculty of Dentistry is a multifaceted process. It combines theoretical
lecturing with audio-visual aids, preclinical practical work , clinical sessions
on patients in the highly equipped state of art university clinics. Unlike other
establishments, the Faculty of Dentistry in Misr International University provides
you with all necessary equipment and materials throughout your course of studies.
The faculty members are of the highest calibers as well as both local and
international guest speakers that contribute to the teaching process. Regular participation
of students in dental conferences and workshops in different specialties also strengthens
their skills and exposes them to the dental community.
Assessment
Courses are assessed according to their nature over several stages through out the
course duration. Assessment in most subjects is both theoretical and practical.
Assessment methods include theoretical tests, practical work, clinical work and
research projects.
Academic Program
The Faculty of Dentistry offers a five-year program (10 semesters) leading to a
Degree of Bachelor in Dental Medicine and Surgery degree. Students must complete
a minimum of 226 credit hours for graduation. These hours include 12 credit hours
of university requirements.

Accreditation
By the decree No. 1213 of the Ministry of Higher Education on 1/9/2001, granted
the faculty permission to commence the program, starting the academic year 2001/2002.
There are six departments of specialization ; Oral Histopathology, Prosthodontics,
Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Anesthesia, Pediatric Dentistry, and Oral
Medicine.
